  2.    HOW TO INSTALL or UPDATE AND START PSP

  5.      1. Make a backup copy of your PSP diskette(s) using the DOS
  6.     COPY command.
  7.  
  8.      2. Store the original PSP diskette(s) in a safe place and label
  9.     the new diskette(s) with the same titles as the original(s).
  10.  
  11.      3. If installing make a directory by using the DOS command:
  12.         C MD \(directory name)
  13.  
  14.      4. Copy your PSP diskette(s) to their directory using the DOS command:
  15.         C>COPY  A:*.* \(directory name) or
  16.         C>COPY  B:*.* \(directory name)
  17.  
  18.      5. To start - Make your PSP directory your current directory.
  19.            Then Enter PSP after your C prompt.

  35. ║                        Enter international zones that are valid for your ║
  36. ║                        for your area. Then print only these rates for    ║
  37. ║                        for your UPS approval.                            ║

  39. ║      Enter 2 new sample transactions for 3-Day service. To determine the ║
  40. ║      proper zone add 30 to the ground zone. See note below in Changes    ║

  55.  Changes to PSP since Version 1.0

  57. 1. Version 4.1 released 4/01/93
  58.    A major improvement to handling shippping addresses has been added.
  59.    When entering the customer number for a transaction you may select the 
  60.    customer number by pressing F10. A window will appear showing your  
  61.    shipping addresses. Use the up and down arrow keys, PgUp, PgDn, Home, 
  62.    End, to search for your address. You may also enter a letter to move 
  63.    to that section of your list. Press Enter to select the Customer Number.
  64.    Please note the list is sorted by the abbreviated name. 
  65.    This feature is also available in Shipping Address Processing.

  67.    The PgUp, PgDn, Home, End keys are activated on the transaction screen.

  69. 2. Version 4.0 incorporates new rates and features:
  70.  
  71.      Effective 2/15/93 new rate tables are added for:
  72.     Ground Service Rates for Commercial and Residential
  73.     Next Day, 2nd Day, Air Letters
  74.  
  75.      Call Tag and COD Charges are been increased
  76.  
  77.      Oversized packages are now computed as 30 lb packages
  78.  
  79.      A new zone 26 for rural Alaska is added
  80.  
  81.      A new 3Day service with Zones 32 thru 38 has been added
  82.      These zones are not automatically looked up by PSP. To  determine 
  83.      these zones take the ground zones 2 thru 8 (provided automatically
  84.      by PSP) add 30 to the zone. For example if PSP returns a zone 7 
  85.      for a shipment and you wish to send it 3-Day then enter the zone 37.

  87.      A new Zone has been added for Mexico.
  88.  
  89.      We have added a feature to add a handling charge to UPS charges. 
  90.      The Add/Edit Company Data section in Housekeeping will allow you  
  91.      to enter a dollar amount and a percent. If you make either of these  
  92.      entries PSP will calculate 
  93.  
  94.           Charges = UPS Charges + Dollar Amount + Percent x UPS Charges
  95.  
  96.      This amount will appear on the transaction screen and the 
  97.      Billing Report. The UPS Manifest Reports will show the UPS Charges as
  98.      required by UPS.

  100.      If you leave these entries blank or zero then UPS charges will
  101.      appear on the transaction screen.
  102.  
  103.      An additional feature was added to the Print Labels, Enter All Information
  104.      on Label selection (#2,#2). You may now select a shipping address to appear 
  105.      on the label.

  107. 3. On Sept 1,1992 two new modules were added to PSP:
  108.  
  109.      Import transactions from an ASCII disk file-
  110.      You may import ASCII shipping transactions from a disk
  111.      file located anywhere on your hard disk. This module
  112.      is sold separately from the standard PSP. When
  113.      you purchase the module you will receive the format
  114.      of the ASCII file and instructions on how to operate
  115.      this feature.  You may use this feature to send shipping
  116.      transactions from an accounting system to PSP.

  118.      Import shipping addresses from an ASCII disk file-
  119.      You may import ASCII shipping addresses from a disk
  120.      file located anywhere on your hard disk. This module
  121.      is sold separately from the standard PSP. When
  122.      you purchase the module you will receive the format

  125.      your shipping addresses to the PSP Shipping Address

  129. 4. On July 1,1992 two new modules were added to PSP:

  131.      PIP Module - This module will be of great interest to you
  132.           if you insure many of your packages each month.
  133.           Please contact us for more information.

  135.      GroundSaver Module - If you are in a designated UPS GroundSaver
  136.           zone and you ship 250 packages per month you probably
  137.           qualify for a substantial discount from UPS. Contact
  138.           your UPS rep to learn more about this discount. If
  139.           you qualify then contact us to purchase
  140.           this module.

  142.    Also added was support for a HP Laser compatible printer for printing
  143.    of the Manifest. Enter code 60 in the Housekeeping/Company Data section.

  145.    Also added is a feature to add a fixed dollar amount and a percent of
  146.    the shipping charge to the shipping charge on the BIlling Report. This
  147.    was requested from many companies that add a charge to the UPS charges.

  150. 5. On June 1,1992 UPS introduced a new tracing service called GroundTrac.
  151.    To accomodate this new service two new rate charts(5,6) have been added.
  152.    If you want to use GrounTrac for a commercial shipment then enter a D
  153.    rather than a C in the C/R column. If you want to use GrounTrac for a
  154.    residential shipment then enter a S rather than an R. PSP wil select the
  155.    correct rate from the two new rate tables. A message at the bottom
  156.    of the screen will remind you of these codes when you first enter a
  157.    transaction. (Versiion 2.5 Revised 6/1/92)

  159. 6. On Feb. 24,1992 UPS increased rates for domestic ground and air service,
  160.    introduced 2nd day air letter service, Canadian zone 54 was added,
  161.    Canadian rates increased, and AOD service was cancelled. In addition
  162.    international sevices have been greatly expanded.
  163.    Version 2.4 incorporatres all these changes.
  164.    UPS will no longer give approval to any "Host System" that allows rate
  165.    changes. For this reason you will no longer be able to change any rate
  166.    tables with PSP. (Version 2.4 Revised 2/24/92)

  168. 7. Two new label formats introduced. See Housekeeping section 2. If you
  169.    enter 3 as the label type code PSP will produce a label 4" X 3 15/16"
  170.    with the entire label printed in normal size type (ie. condensed type not
  171.    used) and the UPS Shipper No. box will be larger. If you enter 4 then
  172.    the label will be 5" X  3 15/16 (Version 2.3 Revised 3/28/91)

  176. 8. On Feb 18,1991 UPS introduced separate rate schedules for Commercial
  177.    and Residential shipments. They also introduced zones 88,92,98,99 and
  178.    new rates for Canada and International Air.
  179.    Version 2.2 incorporates all these changes.
  180.    The transaction screen has a new column for you to enter C for a comm-
  181.    ercial shipment and R for a Residential Shipment. PSP will look up the
  182.    charges from the correct rate schedule. A default R or C will appear.
  183.    You may enter this default letter in the Housekeeping Section under
  184.    Add/Edit Company Data.

  187. 9. You can now search for specific transactions by control number
  188.    on the transaction screen by pressing F8 and entering the control
  189.    number. Version 1.29,10/01/90

  191. 10. You may now print individual COD Tags directly from the
  192.    Transaction Screen by pressing F7 when cursor is present on the
  193.    transaction line. Version 1.28A, 6/25/90

  195. 11. If you do not wish to use A/B switches to attach your parallel
  196.    printers to your PC you may now assign them within PSP. A new
  197.    option 6 is available in the Housekeeping Section which will
  198.    allow you to assign your parallel printers to LPT1,LPT2,or LPT3.

  201. 12. A new label option is present in Version 1.26. You may produce
  202.    a label that contains only your UPS Shipper number and Package
  203.    ID number on a small 3 1/2" x 15/16" label. This feature is for
  204.    customers who already produce their shipper address labels in
  205.    other systems. The option can be activated by selecting Housekeep-
  206.    ing and then #2 Add/Edit Label Format. Version 1.26,12/6/89

  210. 13. When your COD's are greater than $100. you may select an option
  211.    to have your Declared Value made equal to your COD and automati-
  212.    cally entered on the transaction screen. The option may be se-
  213.    lected in the Housekeeping/Company Data section.

  216. 14. You may now print a label directly from the transaction screen
  217.    by pressing the F6 function key.

  220. 15. You may now skip to any line on the transactions screen by
  221.    pressing the left arrow when the cursor is positioned on the
  222.    first character of the Control Number field. This will position
  223.    the cursor in the Line number field. Just Enter whatever line
  224.    you wish to reach.

  227. 16. You may now delete transactions after you print shipping
  228.    labels. You must print the manifest AFTER any deletions.

  234.    EPSON printer.

  253.    Enter to accept the default to pause between labels to
  254.    enter special shipping data on each label.
